Rankings are very important in the world of Roar. They differ from those of normal felines, as these particular felines have had their minds tampered with, and ones born on the island are born with these minds. They live in groups called families, and each have the name of their family as their last name, although they are rarely addressed by their first and last name, unless it is a formal event or the feline is of royal blood.
All Ranks (by how high)
High Felis:
Its name is taken from the Genus Felis in the Felidae (feline) family. They are the leaders of the groups of cats. They are required to have kits, to carry on the name and blood. The founders of each group took the blood of their patron god/goddess, and it will continue to run in the veins of the dynasty for eternity. A feline may seek an audience with them, which traditionally starts with addressing them as "High Felis (Name) (Group)". Their children are called Heirs, and any cousins, siblings, or grandchildren, although they do live in the royal family's home, are considered Highbloods. A cub who is unable to have cubs or has a deformity is disowned and therefore, cannot become High Felis. However, if a disowned cub finds out about their parentage, by tradition they become the unchallenged sole heir to the throne of High Felis, but this is a very rare event. They can take a mate of any rank, except Silenced and Trainee, and the selected mate becomes a Highblood if they were a hunter. A High Felis also has a title, relating to their personality.
Heir:
A Heir is a child of the High Felis. They are royalty, and their last name is the name of their group. (ex. Quensa Alio) When a High Felis dies, the Silencer and Alaheala traditionally take the Heirs to an arena in the territory where they battle to the death or near-death of they have an ambition to become High Felis. Any losers are exiled if they are not killed by the winner. Due to this, rarely do all Heirs battle it out. If no heirs want to battle, one is randomly chosen to become High Felis. An unchallenged Heir can be announced if all Heirs agree on a single feline, or if a deformed, disowned feline (who can have cubs) discovers their heritage, and is deemed fit to rule. They are the second highest rank, and there's usually at least ten of them.
Highbloods:
Highbloods are the rank of the felines in the highest ranking families. They are the equivalent to nobles, and are known to have personalities ranging from being a vain snob to being shy, timid, and very quiet and beyond. They are considered high ranks, and sometimes the High Felis sometimes calls upon the more sensible ones for advice. At birth, they are still considered Trainee, but instead of becoming hunters once they reach adulthood, they become Highbloods, usually with similar duties.
Alaheala:
The Alaheala is an important rank in the feline dynasties. Named after the legendary Alaheala tree, the Alaheala, informally known as the Healer, has a knowledge of the herbs that are on the island and which one to use in certain occasions. Alahealas are exused from normal Hunter's duties, and they still belong to a family. They are traditionally female, but on occasion, a male may be appointed. (Don't confuse them with medicine cats from the Warriors series- they can have a mate and cubs, and it's encouraged for them, like it is for all felines.)
Silencer:
Formerly a respected Hunter, the Silencer serves as the High Felis's main advisor. They are feared, respected, and usually very quiet. In addition, they are always male. They are the leader of the Hunters, and get their name from their main duty- making Silenced. (See their rank.) The Silencer is usually avoided, and has a sort of stone prison that they run as a punishment. It is not uncommon to see bblood on their claws.
Hunter:
Making up the bulk of the dynasties, hunters are the names for adult cats that are not Highbloods or related to the High Felis. They may get a promotion to Silencer if the High Felis deems them worthy, or if they commit horrible treason, such as murder, they may be Silenced and put into the rank of Silenced. Their duties include hunting, defending borders, training Trainees, and doing whatever the High Felis asks.
Trainees:
At birth, all cubs, except those of the High Felis, are considered Trainees. They are assigned a Guardian, who watches and teaches them about life until they reach the age of two years. Trainees are taken from their families at the age of on month to live with their Guardian's family, only to return to their birth family once they become a Hunter or Highblood. Either a Hunter or Highblood can serve as the Guardian. Trainees spend much time learning about life, practicing hunting and fighting, and helping others. As they get more mature, they are given more duties.
Silenced:
The lowest rank in the dynasties, Silenced are hated and have virtually no rights at all. They are usually felines who have been committed treason and been condemned to a fate considered far worse then death. Their tongues are torn out, so they cannot speak, and their claws are pulled out so they cannot attack. A scar detailing their dynasty's symbol is found on their chest. Silenced are servants, and must do whatever their family asked. Each family has at least one Silenced, the royal family having five, the Highbloods usually having two or three each, and normal families have one Silenced per family. They are tortured, abused, and usually have a grudge against the Silencer for tearing out their tongues and claws.
Exiled:
A punishment not quite as bad as being Silenced, but still a serious one. An Exiled is a feline who has done something really bad and been exiled for it.
Loner:
A peaceful feline who has no desire to join a dynasty, but may do so eventually.
Freefire:
A Freefire is the rank of a feline usually born outside a dynasty who likes causing trouble. Considered an annoyance.
Prophet:
A feline who has left their dynasty on a personal or spiritual quest. Generally liked by the dynasties and falsely thought to have physic powers. They are often allowed into the camps of the dynasties.
